News and Philanthropy (continued)

The population of the service area is estimated at over 40,000 people living in 55 communities spread out over an area of 800 square miles. As a volunteer-based nonprofit, AVODEC provides expertise and training in three critical areas:

  1. The construction of homes for families who are without;
  2. Improved healthcare in the form of potable water, family gardens, latrine construction, and immunization; and
  3. Agriculture and native seed projects.

We have focused our energies on building homes and have funded the construction of approximately thirty-five houses since our involvement began. Please contact Jill Lucas or Peter Vujovich for further information or to volunteer in Jinotega, Nicaragua.
